Abstract:

Researchers publish in journals to share their findings with the scientific community and the public. This also ensures quality and credibility of research through the peer-review process, in which experts in the field critically appraise the research before publication. Journal selection is a key step for researchers who aim to share their findings in an effective way to the target audience.

After this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand the general considerations when selecting journals to publish
  • Identify available tools and metrics for journal evaluation
  • Understand and avoid potential predatory journals
About the speaker(s):

Fanny is the Engineering Librarian at the University of Hong Kong Libraries. Her core responsibilities include providing information literacy education, research support, and library reference services. She is also responsible for collection development for the Faculty of Engineering. She is particularly interested in changing scholarly communication landscape, such as the open science movement.
