Call for paper presentations Background EMB's Hong Kong International IT in Education Conference will be held 6-8 February 2006 at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre in Wanchai. Centre for Information Technology in Education of the University of Hong Kong is one of the co-organizers and CITE Research Symposium 2006 (CITERS 2006) will be held in partnership with the EMB conference.
The main theme for the Hong Kong International IT in Education Conference 2006 is Capacity Building for Learning through IT.
The main themes for CITE Research Symposiums are "E-Leadership" & "Learning Communities and Capacity Building".

<a>http://www.cite.hku.hk/events/citers2006</a> Guidelines for Abstracts submission CITERS2006 organizing committee is now inviting paper presentations and demonstrations from students and graduates from the Faculty of Education programmes; from principals, teachers, education practitioners, government officers, librarians, CITE members and those interested in IT and educational research.
Papers from individuals or groups are most welcome.
Submitted papers will be reviewed by the CITERS organising committee and forwarded to the Programme &amp; Publication Sub-Committee of EMB for selection. Accepted papers will be published in the Programme book of the conference to be distributed to all participants.

Selection Criteria Accepted abstracts will be invited for presentation during CITERS. The followings are the selection criteria: </a>

<a> Paper presentations for Morning sessions (Conventional paper) For the morning sessions, we welcome presentations on the following themes:

Paper presentations for Afternoon sessions (Interactive sessions) For the afternoon sessions (Papers for Interactive sessions), we welcome presentations on the following themes:

Instructions for the preparation of abstracts </a>


<ol><a>
<li>Abstracts (200-400 words) should be written in ONE page in either Chinese or English. </li>
</a>
<li><a>Authors of papers are required to use the </a><a>Abstract Template</a> to develop the abstract. </li>
<li>Authors who wish to submit more than one abstract should fill out a separate submission form for each abstract. </li>
<li>Abstracts should be submitted electronically in MSWord document format through either email attachment to the conference secretariat (admin@cite.hku.hk) or via online submission at the CITERS website directly. </li>
<li>The author's full name must be exactly the same in all abstracts when more than one abstract is submitted.</li>
</ol>

Presentation Format CITERS will follow the same presentation format guidelines as used for the international conference. CITERS will accept five presentation formats, namely
?Paper Presentations
?Posters Display/Mini Exhibitions
?Workshops
?Forums
?Teaching Demonstrations
Details are as follows:
A. Paper Presentations The paper presentation proposals should spell out work/research that is in progress or completed on studies related to the theme as mentioned in the guidelines. The aim of the presentations is to stimulate discussions among academics and practitioners. The papers should provide a framework and the main recommendations of the study for facilitating productive discussions. A presentation section for accepted papers will be scheduled in CITERS2006.
B. Posters Display/Mini Exhibitions Boards will be provided for poster presenters to display 2 to 4 A3 size posters. Poster presenters will be responsible for preparing the poster presentations in CITERS2006. The posters display/mini exhibitions allow the presenters to communicate with the symposium delegates directly. The aim of the presentations is to stimulate discussions among academics and practitioners. The presentations should provide a framework and the main recommendations of the study for facilitating productive discussions. If poster presenters would like to extend their presentation into a mini exhibition, they are recommended to liaise with the event organizer of the conference for such an arrangement.
C. Workshops The design of workshops should offer participants a chance to have hands-on experiences with various types of digital resources and electronic tools that will help learning and teaching. Participants should also be actively engaged in productive discussions on the use of the resources and tools on the pedagogical purposes. Please note that the workshop initiators will be responsible for the organization of the workshop (e.g. workshop call preparation and distribution, coordinating workshop participation and content, assembling of the workshop materials required, equipment required for conducting the workshop, etc.). Workshop proposal writers should contact the event organizer once their proposals have accepted.
D. Forums The design of forums should offer participants a chance to discuss issues around current and emerging topics on innovative use of technologies that have strong potential and relevance for the future of IT in Education. Please note that the forum initiators will be responsible for the organization of the forum (e.g. forum call preparation and distribution, and coordinating forum participation and content, etc.). A presentation section for accepted forums around 45 to 75 minutes will be scheduled in the conference. Exact details please refer to the conference programme announced on the conference webpage.
E. Teaching Demonstrations The design of teaching demonstrations is to provide an opportunity for sharing of experience on sound pedagogical practices in using IT to enhance learning for teachers, academics and professionals from Hong Kong and other economies. It can be a showcase of the achievements of ITEd in Hong Kong or other countries. The aim of teaching demonstrations is to stimulate the development of pedagogical practices using IT through interaction and exchange of ideas with academics and practitioners. Please note that the teaching demonstrators will be responsible for the materials, equipments and human resources required for the teaching demonstration. A presentation section for accepted teaching demonstrations in the range of will be scheduled in the conference. The time of each section would be about 30 to 60 minutes. Guidelines for presentations You are invited to use our <a>on-line contribution form</a> in submitting an abstract for your presentation for CITERS. If you wish to submit more than one presentation, please use this form as many times as necessary.
Paper presentations and demonstrations should be designed to fit into a 30 minute session with 20 mins presentation, 5 mins Q &amp; A &amp; 5 mins for moving out and change over
Interactive sessions should be designed to fit into a time-slot according to different formats of the presentation.
Important dates 20 December 2005 - Deadline for submission of title and brief (200-400 words) abstract of paper presentation or demonstration (using the online form) in either Chinese or English
30 December 2005 - Notification of acceptance of presentation or demonstration for inclusion in the Symposium.
Guidelines for Paper Submission All accepted abstracts in Paper Presentations and Posters Display are encouraged to extend their abstracts into full paper in a range of 4 to 8 pages and submit to the Hong Kong International IT in Education Conference 2006 as outlined in the paper template on or before 30 December 2005. The conference also welcome the submission of full paper extended from abstracts in Workshops, Forums and Teaching Demonstrations.
The submissions will not be accepted for publication in the conference proceedings for either of the following reasons:
?Submission after the deadline
?Submissions not adhering to the requirements stipulated in the paper template
?Submissions not extended from the accepted abstracts
?Without submissions of the Transfer of Copyright Agreement with signatures of all authors
Instructions for the Preparation of Papers Authors of papers are required to use the Paper Template to develop the paper from the abstract in MSWord document format.
The Transfer of Copyright Agreement should be printed, signed by all authors of the paper, saved in PDF format.
