You are invited to participate in the CITE Research Symposium (CITERS 2014) on 13-14 June 2014 (Friday & Saturday) at Rayson Huang Theatre, The University of Hong Kong. This year’s CITERS is organized by the Centre for Information Technology in Education of the University of Hong Kong (CITE), in collaboration with the Education Bureau HKSAR, Centre for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education (CAISE), Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL), the Libraries of the University of Hong Kong, HKU SPACE Centre for Cyber Learning and Center of Teaching and Learning Development, National Taiwan Normal University. The goal of the symposium is to discuss recent research, share good educational practices, and new technologies, with a view to furthering research and practice that support learning with IT. It also provides a platform for the presentation and sharing of outcomes from research and development work conducted by practitioners and researchers to advance our knowledge and understanding of the many issues related to technology-supported learning and teaching.

The symposium’s main theme is ‘Learning without Limits?’. There are six sub-themes, which are (1) Partnerships for learning beyond technology; (2) Technology-supported professional learning; (3) Leveraging learning environments for meeting diversity in the classroom; (4) Open Educational Resources (OER); (5) Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs); (6) Professional learning for meeting students' special educational needs. The symposium will feature sessions on a broad range of topics related to the Symposium theme and subthemes. In addition to invited speakers and paper presentations, there will also be experience sharing panels, hands-on demonstrations and discussion forums. Symposium activities are organized as a two-day event. On each day, there will be keynote addresses and parallel sessions on elearning, including introductions to CITE projects that use Web 2.0 at the primary and secondary school levels, especially on building teacher support networks for curriculum and assessment innovation, as well as leadership for successful e-Learning innovation to achieve sustainable impact on students’ learning outcomes and school culture. On 14 June morning, CAISE will launch the product of a joint-school project, “SELTAS – an E-Learning platform for students with special educational needs (SEN)”. Keynote address and plenary sessions as well as workshops and demomstrations on E-learning for SEN students will be arranged in that morning.

CITERS 2014 is designed to be of interest and relevance to academics and research students in tertiary institutions, school principals and teachers from local and international schools, school administrators, librarians, government officials, publishers of educational resources and e-Learning related industries, and interested members of the community.
