Filling the gap between lessons with Moodle activities: A course-level prospective

In this sharing session, experiences about designing Moodle activities in course-level will be introduced. Students learning in universities is usually arranged in courses which are a series of lessons. Moodle activities show the powerfulness to create meaningful learning experience in individual lessons, but it is also worth to see how could Moodle being utilized to complement the entire course. This experience will show how the concept of scaffolding could be integrated in the design of Moodle activities. Also, the influence on teaching and learning coming from the articulation of formative assessments and summative assessments under the use of Moodle will be shown.

About the speaker(s):

Dr. Patcy Yeung is currently an associate professor in the Division of Learning, Development and Diversity, Faculty of Education. She serves as the Director of The Centre for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education (CAISE). She is also serving on the CAISE Review as an editor. She was one of the recipients of the Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award 2014-2015 and the Teacher Effectiveness Award (Undergraduate) 2014-2015. She is the PI of a GRF Project 2015/2016, Causal relationships between syntactic skills and Chinese literacy development among typically developing children and children with developmental dyslexia in Hong Kong
