Description:

This talk will introduce LEARNet, a $5 million TDG designed to facilitate the sharing of learning objects between the 8 tertiary institutions in Hong Kong.
The project has three aspects:

1. The setting up of a Learning Resources Catalogue (LRC) that utilizes internationally-established XML metadata standards for the indexing and retrieval of learning objects
2. A fund to assist with producing new learning objects and upgrading legacy material from previous TDGs
3. Communities of practice to facilitate collaborative development and peer reviewing of learning objects submitted to the catalogue.
The first LEARNet Conference will be held at HKU, Graduate House on 27-28
January at which the project will be officially launched.
