Amidst all the hype surrounding Web 2.0, it's clear that it includes social networking. TIME magazine defined it as putting the "We" in "the Web" and named the "citizens of the information age" its Person of the Year for 2007. In this talk, Bebo will try to define the elements of Web 2.0, the role it plays in social networking, and how it promises to shape the Web of the future. As a case study, he will discuss and demonstrate YackPack (www.yackpack.com), a Web 2.0 start-up with which he is involved.
About the speaker(s):Bebo White is a Department Associate (Retired) at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). SLAC is the high energy physics laboratory associated with Stanford University and was the site of the first US Website (and the 5th in the world). Bebo is a frequent visitor to Hong Kong as a faculty member in the HKU Master of Science in Electronic Commerce and Internet Computing program.
