The Potential of Collaborative Problem Solving via Gaming

Learning through digital games has been attracting teachers’, students’, and researchers’ attention. Some studies stated that players would be able to learn how to solve problems by teamwork while gaming. In learning-thru-gaming activities, especially in massively multiplayer online role-play learning games, the social issues and collaborative tasks should be carefully considered for proper learning/gaming design.

In this seminar, Mr. Hong-Zheng Sun Lin will briefly introduce the topics regarding digital games and learning, collaborative learning, and problem solving strategies. The potential of the integration of these strategies and a research framework will be presented. Some of challenges with the design and implementation will also be discussed in this seminar.

About the speaker(s):

<p>Mr. Hong-Zheng Sun Lin is a Doctoral Candidate from Graduate Institute of Information and Computer Education at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). He received his bachelor degree in information management from National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU). His research interests include digital games and learning, meta-cognitive strategy, learning technology and innovation, and ICT in K-12/higher education.<br /><br /></p>
