Hong Kong participated in the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) in 1995 and TIMSS-Repeat (TIMSS-R) in 1999. TIMSS and TIMSS-R represent some large-scale surveys in the fields of mathematics and science education for Hong Kong. The TIMSS-R results enable us to compare our S2 students mathematics and science achievement with the other 37 countries around the world. It also provides an excellent opportunity for us to investigate the change in mathematics and science achievement between 1995 and 1999 in an international context.
